  1. Grass-fed beef contains between 2 to 5 times more omega-3s than grain-fed beef, while grain-fed beef is predominately omega-6 fatty acids. In a country where processed foods containing fake vegetable oils dominate, most Americans over consume omega-6 vs. omega 3’s to a ratio of up to 50:1(!) causing an inflammatory response.  Our ideal health happens with a ratio in the range of 1:1 to 5:1.

 

  1. Beef is one of the best dietary sources of CLA (conjugated linoleaic acid) and grass-fed beef contains an average of 2 to 3 times more CLA than grain-fed beef. Why do we care about CLA?  Get ready for this list!  This acid can fight against cancer, asthma, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides, osteoporosis, inflammation, and even body composition!  Sounds like we all need to consume as much of this as we can!

 

  1. Grass-fed beef consistently contains a higher proportion of stearic acid. Studies show stearic acid is associated with a lowered LDL cholesterol (the bad one.)

 

  1. Grass-fed meat surpasses grain-fed with considerably more antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals such as beta-carotene and vitamin E, zinc, iron, phosphorus, sodium, and potassium. Grain-fed beef does not contain appreciable levels of these because the food they eat (grains) don’t contain them.

 

  1. Cows are meant to eat grass and are healthiest when they do. Isn’t that what you want to put on your plate?  This takes “we are what we eat” to a whole new level!
